If Dogs & Cats Can Live Together......

....Can world peace be far behind?

That was the question I put to my close, personal friend, Zoro Zat Kat this evening. Zoro comes from a land far, far away. His customs....to put it bluntly, are quite strange and when we at first both found ourselves forced to share the same roof over our heads, well, lets just say we fought like cats and dogs.

But we just didn't know any better. How was he to know that when I stuck my nose up his butt I was just trying to say "hi!"

And when he coughed up that giant, hairy log, I nearly went insane trying to dial 9-1-1...without opposable thumbs! Hey, you try it. And don't even get me started on why I shouldn't be eating those little buried treasures.

Then, one day...when I had Zoro pinned to the ground with my razor sharp paws and he had his fangs dug deep into my tender snout, we both realized that perhaps there was a better way.

Couldn't... we ...just ...learn ...to ... get ...along?

And even though we like to play rough every now and again, Zoro's suicide attacks on me while I'm napping in the sun have ceased. And I no longer bust in on him in the middle of the night, trash his digs, chomp his tail and drag him backward around the kitchen.

We call it peaceful coexistence. And since those early, heady days of detente, we have learned that our personal safety and happiness is better guaranteed with mutual goals and a shared vision of our future.

It's such a good idea that Zoro and I have been trying to get President Bush on the phone to share it with him in hopes he can spring it on his friends in Iraq and Afganistan.

So far, we haven't had any luck. No opposable thumbs make dialing the White House rather difficult.

But we keep trying.
